What does "All Natural " and USDA "Certified Organic" mean? And what is the difference between All Natural and USDA Certified
Organic Jerky ?"
So in an effort to answer this question, here is what Brad Zundel, the CEO of Jerky Direct had to say:( quoted from August
2006 Newsletter " What's Smokin " Jerky News )
" The all-natural claim on our beef jerky represents product that have no added hormones or antibiotics. All-Natural also
means minimally processed and No artificial ingredients and No preservatives can be used in the products. If a product is
to qualify for the All-Natural label all of the above claims must be met."
Organic is a United States Department of Agriculture Certification.
All of the same requirements as the All Natural must be met plus the animals and plants raised for the production of organic
meat snacks must be raised on land that has been free from any chemical pesticides, herbicides and non-natural fertilizers
for at least three years. Mother animals that were not born Organic can never be Organic. Only if the mother has been on Certified
Organic Land for at least a year can the offspring qualify to be Certified Organic.
The organic program in the world is a very strong and consistent program that maintains a very high standard of excellence.
There are very few production facilities in the country that are Certified Organic. To reach the organic status is truly the
ultimate in quality and products.
